Q: What is the difference between Update and Synchronize methods?
Both methods upload new and modified files to your remote site folder. The only difference
is how they treat remote files that do not exist at your local folder. The Update method considers
these files unnecessary and deletes them (you can toggle deletion confirmation in the Transfer settings
tab of the Publishing Wizard). The Synchronize method copies these files to your local folder to make
both the local and the remote folders identical (synchronized).
Q: What is the Initial Remote directory and how do I use it?
The Initial Remote Directory is the folder you want to synchronize with your local folder.
If you do not specify any, the Site Publisher uses the folder you "get in" when you just have connected
to your server. Thus, if you want to place your site in the folder other than your default FTP directory,
specify the relative path to your site at your remote FTP server. Use leading slash “/” if you wish to
specify path, relative to your server root.
Q: How to launch my Job from my desktop with a single click?
In the Final Tuning tab of the Publishing Wizard, check the Place shortcut for this job
on your desktop checkbox. The Site Publisher will create the shortcut on your Desktop.
Q: How to use external scheduler to launch my Jobs?
To start your Jobs from the external scheduler you should use the Job file name
with full path. For example:
C:\Program Files\Site Publisher\Job\MyNewJob.spj
And here is the example of the simple batch-file that will start the
Job named MyNewJob:
@ECHO OFF
C:\Program Files\Site Publisher\Job\MyNewJob.spj
As you can see the main syntax is the same and its very simple :o)
Q: My Site Publisher do not upload certain files. How do I solve this problem?
Probably some of your files are excluded from synchronization process. By default Site Publisher exclude all files
and folders with leading "_" character in their names and some other temporary files. You can easily change the
ignoring rules at "Edit" -> "Files & Folders" panel (see the picture).
Q: How to ignore/exclude some specific files or folders?
Site Publisher has special file type rules designed to let you ignore/exclude some folders and
files (for example: server-generated files at the remote side). You may exclude
such files/folders from updating process by adding their names in the Exclusion type
at "Edit" -> "Files & Folders" (see the picture).
The Exclusion types are marked with red minus. Dbl-click on a type record
and edit mask as you want. Use (;) to separate multiple masks.
See online help for further details.
Q: Why do I need the Remote directory caching option?
This is time and money saver. This option will help you to speed up your work with remote directories. You can cache your remote folder structure inside the Site Publisher to prevent rescanning remote files every
time you connect the FTP server.
Q: When I should use the "Reset Cache" function?
Usually you don’t need to reset the remote directory cache manually. But sometimes its required to force Site Publisher to re-scan remote directories by resetting the cache. For example: If you have modified your
site occasionally (or by accident) with some other software, be sure to use Reset Cache function to
rescan your remote folder structure and to keep your data safe.
Q: How to get fully licensed copy of Site Publisher?
The registration process is very simple! Please, go to the Order Page
and follow instructions.
